The Grave of the Fireflies(火垂るの墓) is one of the favorite films in my mind. The story is based on the novel and is an autobiographic by author. He lost his younger sister due to the wartime in Japan. And he was so sad about her death and wrote the story in remembrance with her and help him accepts the event of the tragic. The film is impressive because the reality and graphic emotional description the negative effect in society and personal relationship of the war.
After I saw this move that’s really touch my deeply in the heart. Most girl were wept for the younger sister death and that is include me. In the Japanese culture the adult firefly which emit light have very short life period it’s about two or three weeks and in the traditionally regarded as a symbol of transient.In additional the fireflies are also symbolic of the human soul which is portray the soul as floating and flicker fireball. When someone death and he will transfer the fireflies hover near the river and lake around their country and protect their family.
Some reviewer thinks the Grave of the Fireflies as an antiwar film. I really agree that because the war brings some fight and blood.
